Raven
Raven

MY STORY

Raven came in with a number of other pits to relieve the burden on North Carolina when a large number of pits were uncovered as being used for inhumane purposes. Raven was very shy, scared, and uncertain of her surroundings when she arrived at our shelter. In an effort to help her come out of her shell, she was sent to train for eight weeks at the BarkBurn: A New Leash on Life program where she worked one-on-one with inmates to learn basic tricks and commands, how to potty outside, how to leash walk politely, and how to behave in a crate. She also received socializing that she desperately needed to help her blossom into the loving dog she is today. The final push she needed was a loving forever home, and thankfully there was a family ready to take her and give her the love, security, and peace of mind that she deserved. Here's what her family has to say about her now.

"Raven is doing so well and we are completely head over heads for her. Raven is now a happy dog who wags her tail often. We really see her sweet personality. She knows she is home forever! We have found Raven to be a big cuddler who enjoys kisses from her family. She is one of dive d ogs in our family and she is getting along with them very well! We feel Raven was meant to be with us! We absolutely love her!"

BEFORE AFTER
MY STORY

Maggie, previously Rosalita, came into our shelter young and scared. She'd not had a lot of life experience yet at three months old and being brought in as a stray was a scary, stressful experience. That's when her forever home swooped in, took her home, and allowed her to blossom into the gorgeous dog she is today. Here's what her owner had to say about her progress:

"I just wanted to say thanks to you all for all that you do to ensure proper care and treatment of the animals found or surrendered. Animals are near and dear to my heart. I have a ten yeah old shepherd that was adopted from a shelter the day after Christmas 10 years ago. I also have a one year old boxer that I adopted from your shelter last year, two days after Christmas. We absolutely love our dogs and once called “Rosalita” is now Maggie. I wanted to simply say thanks for saving babies like her. Here is a picture of her at the shelter and now."

BEFORE AFTER
MY STORY

Rosie, formerly Roseanne, was found by an officer as a stray, cold and scared while wandering Kentucky back roads. She waited in our shelter for a month before her forever home finally found her and fell in love with her personality and sweet eyes; now she's warm and cared for, given Rosie-sized heaps of love every day. Here's what her owners have to say about their new companion:

"Here’s an update on Rosie! She loves her new home with my parents and has settled in her role as Queen. She loves couch naps, taking over the little dogs' bed (even though she has a Rosie sized one of her own) and sun bathing. She’s happy, healthy, and as always begging for a belly rub."
